Between March 20 and July 12, the number of individuals (households) who come to Fred’s Pantry for food has increased 410 percent year-on-year to 6,606. The number of household family members that are provided food by Fred’s Pantry rose 445 percent year-on-year to 26,346. In the past 17 weeks, Fred’s Pantry has served 6,300 more food-insecure community members than during the entirety of 2019. Over the past three weeks there has been a slight decrease in numbers of people receiving food from Fred’s Pantry. The decrease has been attributed to some people returning to work, but there still remains an increased demand for food. CHHOP expects that this same level of food insecurity will continue going forward.
